This project blends hardware and software into a single retro-inspired ecosystem.
At its core is **Macrohard**, a fully featured WebOS rather than a simple file conversion website. It includes built-in retro games, a notepad, a command panel, MS Paint, and several other classic desktop-inspired applications.
The flagship application within Macrohard compresses MP3 audio and applies a nostalgic vinyl-style sound effect before exporting it. The processed music is designed to work seamlessly with **mplae**, an ESP32-powered retro music player built as the hardware companion to the operating system.
Beyond playing compressed tracks from Macrohard, mplae can also stream music directly from Spotify, allowing it to function as a modern music player while preserving its retro aesthetic and experience.
