I have never worked on any established codebase outside of school before. This was the first time I’ve ever navigated working on an open source project at all, let alone with such independence. The changes I made implement a package for MIME detection that I didn’t create.

The biggest difficult was navigating the codebase and understanding the individual files as well as how they worked together. The fact that ROBYN is written in both Python and Rust made it slightly more challenging. Additionally, there were many unfamiliar elements that I needed to implement. I was unfamiliar with Rust as well as integration testing. Though I was familiar with Git and GitHub already, I had never established a virtual environment before.
