With the increasing concerns about home security, the development of advanced and affordable surveillance systems has become crucial. This abstract introduces a home-based security system utilizing a Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor. The system is designed to detect and alert homeowners about any unauthorized movement within the protected area.

The proposed security system consists of three main components: the PIR motion sensor, a microcontroller, and an alarm system. The PIR motion sensor is strategically positioned in areas of interest, such as entry points or high-risk zones within the home. It utilizes infrared radiation emitted by living beings to detect motion accurately. When movement is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the microcontroller, which processes the information and triggers the alarm system.

The microcontroller acts as the central processing unit of the security system. It receives input from the PIR motion sensor and performs the necessary logic to determine if the detected motion is suspicious or normal. Additionally, the microcontroller can be programmed to activate other security measures, such as sending notifications to the homeowner's smartphone or activating external lights to deter potential intruders.

In case of a suspicious event, the alarm system is activated to alert the homeowners and potentially scare off the intruder. The alarm can be in the form of a loud siren or a silent notification sent to a connected device, depending on the preferences of the user. Moreover, the system can be integrated with existing home security systems for seamless integration and comprehensive protection.

The home-based security system utilizing a PIR motion sensor offers several advantages. Firstly, it is cost-effective compared to complex security systems, making it accessible to a wider range of homeowners. Secondly, the PIR motion sensor minimizes false alarms by accurately detecting human motion while filtering out environmental factors. Lastly, the system provides peace of mind to homeowners by enhancing their home's security and enabling quick response to potential threats.

In conclusion, the home-based security system described in this abstract utilizes a PIR motion sensor, a microcontroller, and an alarm system to detect and respond to unauthorized movement within a protected area. The system's affordability, accuracy, and ability to integrate with existing security measures make it a reliable option for homeowners seeking to enhance their home security without significant complexity or cost.

How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?

Some of the things were not there but we were able to improvise

What challenges did you encounter?

I can say the some of the challenges that we faced were:
when I was coding the system to work and also debugging the line of codes
Lack of enough laptops
We did not have all the componets needed to create the project
