The problem that we aim to solve with our app is the screen time usage of teens, which has skyrocketed in recent years. By incentivizing users through a point system to get outside and visit random areas within a certain radius, they are able to meet new people and have fun while doing it.
Our application revolves around simplicity, making use of local login and location information to interact with the user. After the user signs in with a username and grants permission to use their location, they are directed to a screen where they can view their target location on Google Maps and take a picture of their current surroundings. After taking their picture, they are shown a final version of it along with the distance and point value for the picture. Points are awarded based on how far the user is from the target location. The user can either retake or confirm the picture. Confirmation results in your photo being posted to a live feed that consists of other photos from people in your area. From here, users can also check on the dynamic leaderboard, which updates as the users gain points.
Our app takes inspiration from other popular social media apps. We hope to expand by adding a friend system, larger location library, and cross-platform availability.
