Papa Pig

CodeDay Fall 2022SF Bay Area(history) ∙
Productive chrome extension that tracks hours of studying on apps that aren't Youtube, Netflix, and other unproductive sites. You can see how much your friends are studying and there will also be fun, simple games to play during breaks. The extension can also allow you to use different studying methods and give you breaks accordingly. Papa Pig will motivate the user throughout their experience!

How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?

Our group had no experience with creating chrome extensions so it was a bit of a challenge trying to get everything together. However, we have some experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript which helped us get through it and we created everything in the app.

What challenges did you encounter?

We realized how challenging handling the background scripts were going to be as beginners in building chrome extensions. Also, due to Chrome's API migrations, playing audio was no longer an option, as we wanted to play a pig sound as a warning when the pig is on a blacklisted website. We also struggled with tracking the time and getting the CSS code to work as intended.
