this platformer game basically takes place in the sewers (for now) and aliens are invading the planet. the government has hired agents to get rid of these aliens because they have the one thing, fire, that can destroy and defeat the opposition's ice powers. there are several aspects to this game like: a fuel bar, shooting, jumping over obstacles (like icicles), collecting treasure chests and evading the opponents.
How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?
zero experience. and the project uses some basic help from youtube for the coding of certain actions (but we still had to apply all of that into our game by changing a few things here and there)
What challenges did you encounter?
scratch got very glitchy, faced problems in saving the document and usually trying to understand what exactly went wrong with the code and why it isn't working. so yeah, there's definitely a lot of trial and error involved in this and while it may be considered an advantage at times (given the aspect at exploring the software thoroughly) it is also time-consuming.
