We'll create a review and recommendation site for some topic of interest to the mentees -- could be travel, for example, or it could even be places to eat lunch given some location.

Users should have a way to provide information about the target. For the sake of example, let's say it's travel destinations. Users should be able to provide information like photos, reviews, ratings, Q&A, etc.

Stretch goal for folks interested in AI/math-y stuff would be to add a recommendation engine (e.g. based on matrix factorization) based on user preferences, whether either explicitly indicated or implied.

We had two members of the team starting development on different versions of the ASP.NET framework, which led to incompatibility issues when merging.
We also had stopping points with deployment of the app to the cloud, which were resolved through firewall settings reset.
We had trouble with the web app authorization implementation for users. An error was coming up for a local db on mac when following Microsoft documentation guidelines (auth was pushed to project phase 2 for resolution).
