Amare is a platform that allows users to post their feelings, any coping methods that work for them or other mental health resources. Commonly posted resources will be at the top of the blog page for easy access. Amare provides a space where users can speak anonymously, but also consolidates information for users to easily access, and provides a way to easily access a variety of strategies or other resources from others’ experiences. This platform uses Javascript, React, and Node JS that allows users to connect with their friends and see a display of how these friends are feeling on a daily basis.

How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?

What challenges did you encounter?

One challenge we encountered while working on Amare was the ReactJS routing. This was initially a big issue due to the fact that from the login page to the homepage routing, showing the Dashboard was tough, but then we used the React BrowserRouter component which fixed the problem. Another challenge we faced was figuring out how to keep the user logged in even if you refreshed the page or closed the browser. We fixed this by storing the login token into sessionStorage. Lastly, we had trouble deciding what database should be used. We initially thought that Firebase was the best option for Amare, but we then migrated to MySQL with AWS RDS because it was more straightforward.
