What if Doom (1993) was a Rougelike PvP Game with procedural generation, rougelike combat, and Doomlike movement? We're here to answer that.
How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?
Everything in this project is made by the people on our team, including all 500 sprites used during this production, all sounds, and even songs. Our coder has experience with unreal engine, but almost none with multiplayer experimentation. Our final member who acted as the idea man in the project, and made the music, has no experience whatsoever with software design other than a previous code day. This project is a new challenge for each of our skillsets.
What challenges did you encounter?
Adding multiplayer was a challenge as each and every interaction or value must be brought between different clients. Making the different faces of characters and enemies to give the Doom style was also very challenging to pull off. Still trying to iron it out.
Multiplayer now is being pushed back as we don't have the tools necessary for easy testing and debugging.
