One of the biggest challenges that stops many teens from investing is the possibility of losing money. With our app, teens are able to invest in stocks, learning skills in trading without having to losing money. When you begin, you have $50,000 to invest in stocks such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, T-Mobile, and some others. With more time, we will add functionality that enables the app to pull the current stock prices straight from Dow Jones, making the game more realistic, enhancing the user experience. Eventually, the app will be identical to a real trading app on the app store, and teens will be able to seamlessly transition from using this app to trading with real money on the stock exchange.

What tools did you use to create your project?
How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?
This project uses AppLab, which is an easy way to prototype mobile apps. Arnav had prior experience using AppLab, but most of us have never used it before. Siddhant has experience with Python, Unity, and mobile and web development. Aayush has experience with Python, JavaScript, MATLAB, Java, and C++.
What challenges did you encounter?
One challenge we encountered was that using AppLab, we had no way to get real stock market info. This is because AppLab only allowed us to send web requests to certain whitelisted URLs, which did not include an API for stock prices. However, this app is just a prototype so we hard-coded the stock prices, and made them randomly change. Also, another challenge is that we had a big team--6 people--which made it difficult to work together. So, while 1 or 2 people worked on the app, we had the rest of our team working on the presentation and other things.
